Upgrading my paid off samsung device

According to Samsung, my device is ineligible to be traded-in (Note 10+) even though the phone is paid off from Sasktel before I switched to Lum. They indicated to contact the carrier. I'd like to trade my phone in, but not sure what to do? Thanks.

    It didn't make sense to me either. Samsung customer service ended up bypassing the error for me after mentioning the provider wasn't sure of the issue as the phone was unlocked.

    Did they mention why to contact them? The only other reason I can think of is the device is locked... I'm not sure why a locked device would matter to them since Samsung can unlock it themselves.
