Having issues with pictures in text

Ever since I switched to lum I’ve had issues with sending and receiving photos through text, I receive an icon like below instead of the photo and there’s no way to download it, if I click, double click or hold down on it just gives me the option to reply. I’ve searched in my phone settings and can’t find anything that I can change to make this work. I have plenty of data if that matters.

You need to have enough space on your iPhone or some picture messages may not download.
