Why no 5G for those of us still on their old memberships?

With the release of the new plans, it appears Lum now supports 5G. However, it says here that you need to be on one of the new plans to get it.

Why can't 5G be enabled for all customers? It's not like it's used as an incentive for people to switch to the new plans since we're unable to switch until our current memberships expire, and even then we'll be forced to.

It seems silly to restrict it only to people who are up for renewal now. I have 4 months left on my old membership.

Can someone from Lum explain why this restriction is in place?

    We understand how exciting the roll out of 5G is and we appreciate your enthusiasm for wanting to switch right away. The new plans that offer 5G are structured separately from our previous plans, with different features and functionality. We understand this may not be the answer you were hoping for, we're sorry for the frustration. Our goal is to create the best experience possible, and that sometimes means we have to balance offering new features and services and maintaining the value of our existing plans.

    The good news is once you roll to one of our new plans, you'll immediately get access to 5G speeds that never slow or throttle.

    We genuinely appreciate your understanding and thank you for being part of the Lüm family!

    That's right , there is no option to stay on our old plan. You will be forced over to the new plan.
