Subscribing for a Child

I was thinking of subscribing to Lum for my kid who is entering high school. I am currently with a different carrier. I was just wondering the best way to do this? Should I just create an account under my name, or under her name? Can I link her account to me without having a plan myself?

I have another that we might sign up at a later point, so I just trying to find the best way to do this. I was just wondering what others do in a similar position.

Thanks

You're better off keeping it simple and just creating an account under your name for now as the primary account.

In the future when you bring your other account over, then you can link it with your child account.

I have a similar question. I'm with another carrier, but just created a Lum account to get a number for my son. It appears his number is now the main account holder.

Is there a way for the main account to be linked to my phone number (without Lum being the carrier for my number). I'd like to link his number as a 'sub-account' to me, so I can manage it. Within a couple of weeks, I'd like to then add a second Lum number in our linked accounts (this time, for my daughter).

Any clarity on this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You can choose which Lum account is the “primary” account and link other Lum numbers under it.

However, you must have at least one active Lum number to be the primary account. If you’re not a Lum customer (i.e., your own number isn’t with Lum), you can’t set up a main account just to manage others.

In your case, your son’s Lum number would stay as the primary account, and any future Lum numbers (like your daughter’s) can be added under it.

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for reaching out. These are great questions. Thanks to @H-Man for pointing things in the right direction.

To clear things up, here is how managing your accounts and porting works:

    • Primary Account: You do need to have a primary account set up with an active phone number on it to link other Lüm accounts.
    • Porting Your Number: To make sure your number transfers smoothly, the name on your previous provider's account must match the name on your Lüm account.
    • Total Control (Self-Serve): Once your number is safely ported over, you are in the driver's seat! Our self-serve platform lets you update your email, change your name, swap phone numbers, and link or unlink accounts whenever you want.

If your situation is a bit unique or you run into any snags, we're always here to guide you. Just open up a ticket through Lümbot and we’ll dive into the specifics with you!

    Thanks,
