If you are experiencing issues sending or receiving texts, group messages or iMessage's that include undeliverable, failed, etc follow these steps:
If you haven't changed phones
- Make sure your account is up to date and you have data or the Talk & Text add-on (included in all new plans as of Oct 24th, 2024).
- Try making a phone call to make sure you have service
- Check your battery settings to make sure your not in battery saving mode or airplane mode
- Delete the text conversation and start a new one with that phone number
- Restart your phone (power off completely, then turn it on again)
- Update the software on your phone
- Text another number. You may have the contact info wrong, or it may be an issue on their end
- Check your network settings
- Toggle Airplane mode
- If sending a group message, ensure it is turned on (below)
- Refer to your user manual or manufacture's website for additional steps
- Let the community know and one of our members will help you
- Raise a Get Help request
If you have changed phones
Android to iPhone
To deregister your phone number from chat features after removing the SIM:
- Go to How to turn chat features off (Google Help Center)
- Under Without your previous device, enter your phone number
- Click Send code
- Enter the 6-digit verification code you received
- Click Verify
- Follow steps in the first section
iPhone to Android
🚩It can take up to 24 hours for the phone number to be completely removed from Apple's Messages (iMessage) platform.
Group Messages for Android
Group messaging on Android is a feature that allows you to send a single message to multiple contacts at once. It’s a form of communication that uses either Text/SMS (Short Messaging Service) or Picture/MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) to deliver messages to a group of people. Here’s a breakdown of what it entails:
- SMS versus MMS: SMS is utilized for text-only messages, whereas MMS can encompass text, images, videos, and audio. Group messaging often employs
- Replies: When someone replies to the group message, their response will typically be visible to all members of the group, allowing the conversation to remain in one place.
Group messaging is particularly useful for coordinating events, sharing news, or having a conversation with multiple people without needing to send individual messages to each person
- Open your messaging app on your phone.
- In the top right corner, click on the 3 dots.
- Click on Settings > More Settings >Multimedia Messages>Group conversation
- Turn on Group conversation
- You may need to remove the group and re-add it.
